Job Description

Reporting to the Methods & Special Tooling Leader, the Tooling Design Engineer is involved in the design of installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling and lifting tools. Participate in the design of specialized tools related to recent major projects or being submitted.

Main responsiblities:

  • Analyze technical information (technical specifications, scope of work, work breakdown) ;
  • Responsible for the design of special site tooling for site assembly in accordance with site planning and budget, taking into account the EHS aspect ;
  • Plan the tooling design phase, monitoring and coordinating with the project team ;
  • Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure that the design is consistent with site installation methods ;
  • Optimize tooling or machine design to improve and reduce site installation time ;
  • Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings ;
  • Write engineering reports and documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals, etc ;
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of site teams ;
  • Validate the cost of procedures and tooling during the tender phase with other members of the construction and commissioning team ;
  • Responsible for project deliverables and budgets.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering ;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience ;
  • Knowledge of Safety Standards for Material Handling and Lifting Equipment (OSHA) B30.20 Below the hook ;
  • Knowledge of welding and machining would be an asset ;
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively ;
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without restriction or if not, canadians having the TN-1 Visa ;
  • Ready to travel time to time in North America (5%) ;
  • Experience in hydroelectricity field highly recommended ;
  • To be passionate about mechanical design and the field of hydropower ;
  • Knowledge of calculation methods related to material resistance, finite element simulation, metallurgy and welding are assets for this work ;
  • Design 3D drawing (NX) ;
  • SmartSheet et Excel Intermediate knowledge.
