Ontario Line South

Our team is mobilizing its design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometre tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown.

Job Description

The position of Material Coordinator will assist the Material Engineer to perform material review and acceptance functions related to quality for the quality team of the Ontario Transit Group for the Ontario Line South Project.

  • Coordinate field testing and inspection by various parties on site.
  • Review of submitted timesheets, payment applications and invoices of independent testing companies and laboratories.
  • Review mix designs for variety of concrete, shotcrete, grout, asphalt & masonry mixes against project output specifications.
  • Visit off site facilities to witness performance testing.
  • Review material test data for all other construction materials such as steel, soil, waterproofing, repair products, etc. and ensure that provided test data are satisfying relevant project output specification requirements.
  • Prepare and update the material acceptance process / procedure for the project, in coordination with the design teams.
  • Coordinate with Construction Quality and Quality Control Staff to ensure all delivered material satisfying required project requirements.
  • Attend project meetings as necessary.
  • All other Material & Quality related duties as assigned.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Documentation and reporting skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as on rail, transit and transportation projects in the province of Ontario.
  • Knowledge about CSA / ACI, OPSS and other construction Standards and specifications.
  • Certified as quality professionals from certifying bodies as a minimum successful completion of an ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Training Course would be an asset.
  • Reports directly to the Material Engineer or designee.
  • Assists and works in conjunction with the Quality Team and other departments for the successful delivery of the project.
