New City Contracting is seeking a motivated and hardworking Assistant Carpenter to support our carpentry team. The ideal candidate will have basic carpentry skills and a strong desire to learn and grow in the trade. As an Assistant Carpenter, you will assist in various carpentry tasks, work closely with experienced carpenters, and help ensure that all projects meet our high standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Assist carpenters with framing, finishing, and custom woodwork as directed.
• Measure, cut, and prepare materials for installation, following detailed instructions.
• Help install structures and fixtures, including doors, windows, cabinetry, and drywall.
• Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and stored properly.
• Clean and prepare job sites, including removing debris and ensuring a safe work environment.
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
• Follow safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a secure work environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by carpenters or site supervisors.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of experience in construction or carpentry.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and techniques.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced carpenters.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in the construction industry.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (an asset).
• Relevant certifications in construction or carpentry (an asset).
