THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Vancouver, B.C. team!
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide physiotherapy services to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes, promote independence and improve comfort.
  • Perform regular assessments on resident's physical status, mobility and goals including but RAI-MDS, care plans, transfer and mobility assessments.
  • Participate in regular in-service training and continuing education that align with Vancouver Coastal Health and The Care Group
  • Contribute to the delivery of physiotherapy service at the facility by participating in quality improvement initiatives, meetings, conducting research, conducting in-services as well as other related education such as sling selection.
  • Support with assessment, plans and evaluation of walking program for residents.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation team to support activities that promote mobility and general activation (i.e exercise programs)
Qualifications:
  • Full registration and membership with of the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of clinical experience
  • Passionate about dementia and elder care
  • Believe in continuing education to further your practice.
  • Work well in a team and believe in an interdisciplinary approach to person centered care.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess the personal qualities and attitudes that respect and maintain the spirit, dignity, and individuality of the residents.
  • Must have a commitment to excellence in Care of the older person in a Long-Term Care environment.
  • Must be committed and understand working with residents with dementia.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and is able to establish and maintain relationships with Ownership/management team, staff, residents, resident's families, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrates good time management.
  • Physically and mentally able to perform duties for above position.
  • Show a professional, caring, and considerate attitude to residents, visitors, and staff.
