A local well known Real Estates developer is currently looking for an experienced Controller to join their tight knit. The ideal candidate will oversee a team of 7-8 accounting professionals including financial reporting and integrity of the company. The Controller will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, implementing accounting policies, and providing strategic financial insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, and perform, day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with accepted accounting principles.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 7-8 accounting professionals.
  • Provide training, support, and performance evaluations to team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances and financial performance.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the President.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate audits and implement audit recommendations.
  • Assist in the development of long-term financial strategies.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Ensure efficient and effective financial operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience in the property development industry is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in SAGE and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
