A machinist is responsible for setting up and operating equipment to manufacture component parts according to approved procedures. They will be responsible for training others in setup, operation, and maintenance on a variety of machines in the Fabrication department. They will use both industrial equipment and hand tools to produce parts, verify the quality, and manage inventory of raw materials and completed parts. All Fabrication employees are expected to have a basic understanding of and the ability to safely operate basic fabrication equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely operate fabrication tools and equipment to ensure production of quality products. Establish operating and training materials to use throughout the fabrication process.

·Set up and operate fabrication equipment: CNC lathe, CNC mill, manual lathe,, hand tools and other equipment.

·Clean, lubricate, and maintain machines, tooling, tools, and equipment, as well as troubleshooting issues with equipment.

·Establish and maintain training/operation documentation for CNC lathe, CNC Mill, rolling equipment, turret, press brake, punch press, welder, drill press, saws, shear, hand tools and other equipment.

·Train others to set up and operate equipment and provide technical assistance as needed.

·Establish operation instructions for equipment throughout the Fabrication department.

·Utilize handheld tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, cordless drills and other miscellaneous tools.

·Perform quality inspections of manufactured parts products and make equipment adjustments as needed.

·Train and assist co-workers at same level and below.

Audit and make recommendations for changes to pre-established procedures to improve the fabrication process. Complete work orders in a timely manner producing quality products.

·Read and interpret specifications, work orders, and reports to determine materials requirements and fabrication instructions.

·Present ideas for new production methods for producing new or improved parts and/or products, processes, and services in fabrication department.

·Complete each job traveler by utilizing written procedures and BOMs (Bill of Materials).

·Audit written procedures and BOMs and notify group leaders of discrepancies.

·Meet or exceed standard lead times listed on the job traveler.

·Fulfill production inventory needs by completing jobs according to a predetermined schedule.

·Attend assigned safety trainings.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent. Two (2) or three (3) year
