We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join our team! Here at Rush Street Interactive, our development teams have exciting opportunities for engineers to contribute to the company roadmap and drive innovation across our organization!

Senior Engineer II is expected to deliver the highest-quality code and impactful products to the team, effectively leading complex technical projects and simplifying complex systems through expert design.

Senior Engineer II maintains high-quality standards in the team's work, including well-documented code, proper unit testing, and regular participation in code reviews. They set the standards for coding within the team and provide constructive feedback during code reviews to promote consistent and efficient coding practices. Senior Engineer II plays a key role in documenting team processes. Senior Engineer II plays a crucial role in supporting the Product Owner and Engineering Manager and working closely with the Technical Lead.

Senior Engineer II is further expected to be a leader within the Engineering organization; they should be a point of contact for any engineer on any team to ask for guidance, help, or direction. The Senior Engineer II should be an active participant in both proposing topics and answering questions within the Guild level.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide technical leadership across all teams:
    • Contributes to the company-wide architecture and technical roadmap.
  • Take technical ownership within the team:
    • Drives technical roadmap for the team.
    • Owns the performance plan for their projects.
    • Gives accurate status updates about ongoing tasks.
    • Owns the architecture for the services/components of the team.
    • Monitor the outcomes of the team's actions to learn from mistakes and replicate successes.
    • Mentor junior team members.
  • Identifies and proactively tackles technical debt before it grows into debt that requires significant up-front work to resolve
  • Define and implement automated tests for features independently
  • Drives to improve engineering culture:
    • Researches and proposes new technologies.
    • Known for drama-free launches.

All About you:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or IT
  • 8+ years overall development experience.
  • 5+ years back end experience:
    • Deep knowledge of Java and the Java Ecosystem
    • Strong understanding of Microservice Architecture and Spring
    • Prior Experience with Dropwizard, Kafka, Oracle/PostgreSQL, JPA/HIbernate, Docker, AWS
  • 3+ years front end experience:
    • Deep knowledge of React and JavaScript.
    • Strong understanding of Angular w/ Typescript, micro-frontend architecture, and jQuery
  • 2+ years of experience as a leader on a development team.
    • Experience mentoring and coaching junior developers, identifying opportunities for skill development, and providing feedback through detailed code reviews.
