Role Overview:

As a Kubernetes Platform Engineer, you'll design, develop, and manage our baremetal Kubernetes platform. This role requires deep Kubernetes expertise and a strong development background, as you'll build core systems, integrate cloud-native tools, and develop custom components. You'll also engage directly with customers in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Platform Development: Architect, build, and maintain our baremetal Kubernetes platform.
• Toolchain Integration: Build custom tools to automate workflows and ensure scalability.
• Client Collaboration: Work directly with customers to gather feedback and iterate on platform features.
• Infrastructure Management: Manage baremetal K8s clusters, focusing on uptime and performance.

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

• Kubernetes:
  • Experience with Kubernetes core systems and APIs
  • Networking (CNI)
  • Storage (CSI)
  • Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs)
  • K8s Operators
  • Helm chart management
  • In-depth understanding of scheduling and K8s internals

• Baremetal Experience: Experience deploying and managing K8s on baremetal infrastructure.
• Development Proficiency: Strong in Go, Bash, and Python. Capable of writing custom tools.
• GitOps & Platform Management: Experience with tools like Argo CD or Flux for deploying and managing application stacks on Kubernetes.
• API Gateway/Management: Experience working with API management systems like Kong for intercepting, routing, and managing APIs.
• CI/CD: Experience managing container registries and working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitoring & Logging: Expertise with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, etc.
• OIDC Providers: Knowledge of Keycloak, Okta, or AWS Organizations.
• Linux Proficiency: Deep understanding of Linux systems, with 3+ years as a primary OS.
• Client-Facing: Comfortable interacting with clients, managing expectations, and gathering feedback.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Buildpacks
• Experience with platforms like Heroku or Vercel
• Basic web development knowledge (Node, Django, Rails)
• Epinio, Talos, or other PaaS tools
• Platform as a Service (PaaS) experience
