Are you a hardworking, task-driven individual? Nexar Projects Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Labourer to join our team on various projects in the Winnipeg, Selkirk, and Winkler areas. This position is responsible for a wide range of general construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform demanding physical work activities and safely operate hand tools and trucks; such tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Building skid piles to support pipe above ground, general skid handling safely
  • Construct/install and repair (when necessary) fencing and erosion control materials
  • Spotting equipment and vehicles, flagging, loading, rigging
  • Swamping on equipment (greasing, spotting, guiding to assist the operator in working safely)
  • Measuring, staking, grinding, buffing, taping, painting, mixing
  • Water pumping and handling small equipment (water pumps, generators, etc.)
  • Assist operators and perform a wide range of tasks at construction sites
  • Active participation in all safety and planning meetings, identification of hazards
  • Load, unload, identify and utilize tools and materials required to perform the various tasks to be executed by the crew
  • Assist with assembling and dismantling of equipment
  • Act as a spotter for trucks and other heavy equipment entering the work area
  • Clean and prepare construction work areas where needed
  • Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks
  • Adhere to all Company policies, plans, standards, and procedures
  • Identify safety risks and hazards and comply with relevant safety procedures and regulations
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Various safety tickets, certificates, and Personal Protective Equipment are required depending on the project and position.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or government-issued photo identification
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing

Experience
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and/or a combination of education and relevant work experience is an asset.
  • Previous construction experience in a labourer position is an asset.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Knowledge of handling hazardous materials and waste
  • Physically able to perform manual labour for long hours outdoors and in all weather conditions
  • Physically able to handle and lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
  • Knowledge of the pipeline construction industry
  • Ability to receive instructions and carry out instructions in a safe manner
  • Excellent time management and organization abilities
  • Manual dexterity with the ability to use various hand tools
  • Ability to be reliable and have a strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills: written and verbal skills, listening skills, proven attention to detail, and ability to develop positive working relationships
  • Ability to work in a growing, dynamic and changing environment
  • Optimistic/collaborative approach and attitude towards work

Working Conditions
  • Positions are field-based and often work in remote work locations within the Winnipeg, Selkirk, and Winkler areas.
  • Travel within these areas may be required.
  • Candidates must be local to the Winnipeg, Selkirk, or Winkler areas, as living out allowance (LOA) is not provided.
  • Employees may be required to perform other job-related assignments or duties as requested. These duties may fall outside the scope as described to support the business in whatever capacity is deemed required.
