PRODUCTION MANAGER SUMMARY

Production managers ensure that manufacturing, inventory ordering processes run reliably and efficiently.

Management Responsibilities

  • Oversees the employee workforce in the department
  • Manages scheduling for maximum workforce efficiency
  • Evaluates, adjusts, and creates new policies and procedures as needed for effective operations
  • Manages risk to minimise losses and maximise profits
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures.
  • Estimates, negotiates and agrees on budgets and timescales with artists, print-shops, and managers
  • Remains informed of Mi'kmaw & L'nu Cultural initiatives and policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Maintains and trains staff in product
  • Oversees the employee workforce in the department (when applicable)
  • Manages scheduling for maximum workforce efficiency
  • Ensures that health and safety guidelines are followed

Financial Responsibility

  • Maintains efficient and accurate methods and systems for gift shop financial operations.
  • Prepares monthly and annual financial reports on merchandising.
  • Prepares and submits an annual budget.
  • Maintains accurate and current vendor files, merchandise received records, and invoice payments.

Operations

  • Controls and monitors production budget.
  • Directs and implements shop signage.
  • Determines major capital expenditures and proposals to Operational Manager.

Merchandise and Buying

  • Coordinates with the shop manager on the quality and types of merchandise that best meets the needs of customers.
  • Maintains accurate pricing.
  • Reorders merchandise when needed.
  • Follows buying policies and procedures.
  • Maintains adequate inventory levels necessary to increase sales.
  • Aids in year-end physical inventory.
  • Facilitates buyers to attend major markets at least once per year.
  • Plans, schedules, organises and presents special events and promotions.
  • Maintains inventory figures for each department, particularly marketing.
  • Produces accurate and comprehensive financial reports; inventory at cost and retail values, quantities on hand, quantities on order, profit margins for each item, vendor and category.
  • Provides monthly inventory figures for each category.

Gift Shop Development

  • Plans and directs space and facility allocation.
  • Assists in planning merchandise displays and shop appearance.
  • Coordinates with marketing department regarding inventory, promotions.

Financial Requirements

Coordinate gift shop operations with operations manager and We'koqma'q Band Staff, purchasing and accounting departments (if applicable). Reconcile, check and verify monthly Accounting Statement (if applicable)

  • Maintains and coordinates accounting and bookkeeping operations for the gift shop including:
  • Maintain computerized recordkeeping systems.
  • Maintain purchase records.
  • Maintain inventory records (cost and retail).
  • Check and prepare invoices for payment.
  • Prepare payroll (if applicable).
  • Prepare all financial reports.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

College degree, experience in merchandising, retail operation, and shop management, computer knowledge. Proficient in Mi'kmaw language an asset.

SCHEDULE

Full-time position, 36 hours per week. May need to provide staffing back-up in emergency or absence of staff. Reports to We'koqma'q Shop Manager &Cultural Shop Oversight Committee.
