Role highlights

The Performance Media Director is a polyvalent expert responsible for team leadership, digital media strategy, client and partner relationships, business development, and thought-leadership. As the accountable leader reporting directly to the Vice President of Performance Media, this position entails supervising a team of 6-8 multi-disciplinary professionals. It demands a proactive and solution-driven approach, combined with a strong inclination collaborative mindset. The Director draws upon their extensive background in digital strategy and planning to ensure that our comprehensive client proposals are founded on valuable insights and expertise. This, in turn, enables the development of customized media campaigns that yield impactful performance outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of digital experts in paid social, programmatic display & video and paid search, managing workloads, providing continuous performance feedback, fostering their professional development and ensuring optimal campaign performance;
  • Establish and foster strong connections with clients aiming to become a trusted strategic ally who deeply understands their business and goals. Establish and maintain relationships with partner agencies, and media vendors, seeking opportunities for collaboration;
  • Contribute to client education and internal training programs for junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices;
  • Actively pursue avenues for organic growth and participate in new business development activities, identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and generate new leads. Produce and manage project projections and statements of work, ensuring accurate planning and resource allocation;
  • Cultivate a “test & learn” environment where curiosity and ownership are valued, encouraging constant exploration for insights to improve campaign efficiency and achieve business goals;
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, documentation enhancement and methodology development to ensure operational efficiency ;
  • Promote collaboration and communication across departments and peer groups, fostering a cohesive and cooperative work environment;
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in performance media, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance campaign effectiveness;
  • Oversee the development and execution of media plans, ensuring they align with client objectives, target audience, and budgetary considerations;
  • Collaborate with the finance team to manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting related to performance media activities;
  • Represent the agency at industry events, conferences, and client meetings, showcasing expertise and building industry connections;
  • Drive a culture of innovation and experimentation, encouraging the exploration of new platforms, technologies, and media channels;
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, knowledge sharing, and professional growth among team members.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position, with a total of 6-8 years of experience in the digital field or digital media strategy;
  • Extensive expertise in one or multiple paid media disciplines - paid search, programmatic display & video, and paid social;
  • Proficiency with one or multiple media management platforms such as Google Ads, SA360, DV360/Trade Desk/Amazon, Facebook Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and others;
  • Demonstrated success in developing digital partnerships and implementing effective strategies;
  • Strong understanding of an Adserver, such as Campaign Manager, and its functionalities;
  • Advanced knowledge of optimization best practices and a performance-driven mindset;
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, vlookup, calculated fields, and other relevant functions;
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is a requirement.
