The Maintenance Worker will provide routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and upkeep of the property to ensure a safe and functional environment for staff, clients, and visitors. This includes maintaining HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems and equipment.

This role is part time, 2 days per week, with on call as needed. Note: This role has opportunity to become full time.

Job Duties

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment, structures, and grounds on the property.
  • Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Perform minor repairs and contact appropriate maintenance service providers for major repairs.
  • Maintain heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Monitor the need for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain inventories as needed.
  • Perform regular property inspections of units, common areas, building exteriors, and landscapes.
  • Ensure effective management of loss prevention, risk management, and security.
  • Keep accurate records of property conditions, including roof, HVAC, and utilities.
  • Provide general status reports for all properties as scheduled.
  • Oversee the work of those working at managed properties.
  • Ensure all facilities comply with health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and vendors for maintenance and repairs.
  • Implement and manage sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact.

Working Conditions

  • On call availability may be required/ overtime may be required

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and maintenance experience
  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform small repairs
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Able to create alternative solutions to problems
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures and guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license free from restrictions
