West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. High Level is currently recruiting for a Heavy Duty Mechanic.

Heavy Duty Mechanics repair and maintain electric, diesel, LPG and gasoline industrial equipment.

You'll Do:

  • Report for all scheduled shifts.
  • Complete Hazard ID's and sign for each job task.
  • Assist in development of work orders, Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs), and safety procedures.
  • Read job orders, observe, and listen to equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
  • Overhauls gas or diesel engines.
  • Operate mobile equipment to evaluate operating condition and mechanical fitness.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on equipment, and make adjustments when needed.
  • Lubricate moving parts and drives repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to sample, blueprints, or schematic drawings.
  • Set up and maintain preventative maintenance systems for all rolling equipment.

You have:

  • Grade 12 or equivalency
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Heavy-Duty Mechanic Journeyperson
  • Valid Class 5 Driver License
  • Welding certificate would be an asset

Compensation Package:

  • The hourly pay rate for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
  • Outstanding benefits package including medical, dental, pension, life insurance, disability, accident insurance, vacation, and holidays.
