Company Overview: Surespan is a leading bridge building company renowned for its excellence in constructing high-quality bridges and infrastructure projects. We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator with mid-level experience to join our team. This position offers a shift work schedule, with 21 days on and 7 days off.

Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator will play a pivotal role in our construction projects, operating a variety of heavy machinery to facilitate efficient and precise construction operations. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in operating heavy equipment, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other machinery, to perform various tasks during bridge and other construction projects.
  • Follow project plans and specifications to ensure accurate execution of tasks and precise construction processes.
  • Safely load and transport materials, equipment, and debris around the construction site.
  • If necessary, perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functionality and report any issues to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the construction crew, project managers, and other team members to ensure smooth operations and timely project completion.
  • Monitor equipment operations and gauges to detect any signs of malfunction and take appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Comply with environmental regulations and guidelines during construction activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and project progress.

What you Bring:

  • Minimum 1 year operating heavy equipment on construction sites
  • Proven history of safe practice working on construction sites and around heavy-duty equipment
  • Willingness and ability to perform the required tasks
  • Good work ethic and attitude towards hard work and long hours
  • Strong attention to detail, with a keen eye to identify issues or problems before they arise
  • A desire to build and grow your career within a well-establish organization in the Vancouver construction field.
