Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Please note this is a co-op role that is estimated to start in September 2024 for an eight-month or twelve-month term.

Job Description
  • Support and development in Architecture Discipline along the whole Design and Construction Phase.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs from design drawings, using excels and Autocad.
  • Assisting with work breakdown structures for planning and schedule.
  • Assist the architectural design and construction teams when help is needed.
  • Assisting in the preparation of requests for proposals (RFPs), estimate and other technical documents. And prepare the comparison tables for selection of contractors.
  • Participate and assisting the construction manager and design team in meetings with contractors and designers.
  • Assisting in communications with the large group of contractors, with requests for informations (RFIs), estimates and other technical documents when necessary.
  • Participating in the budget assessment after selection of contractors, and reception of quotes.
  • Assisting with numerous administrative duties as required.
  • Must be self-motivated and work well with minimum supervision.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in relevant program, such as Civil Engineering/ Technologist / Construction Management.
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
  • Sound computer skills – office 365.
  • Excellent MS Excel and MS Word skills, AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of ACC is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with others as a team.
  • Good initiative, attention to details
