West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Cariboo Pulp and Paper, located in Quesnel, BC, is recruiting for a Process Safety Engineering Co-op Student (4 months/8 months) starting in September 2024.

You'll Do:

  • Assist the process safety project manager with updating thermal oil P&IDs for BC and Alberta sawmills
  • Use existing P&IDs as a starting point and update drawings to match the “as built” system at the mill
  • Visit WF mills, trace the thermal oil system with the mill's steam chief, and update P&IDs using AutoCAD
  • Work with the mill's head electrician to update the thermal oil alarms and interlocks spreadsheet
  • Gain hands-on learning experience at major industrial sites
  • Develop essential P&ID design and AutoCAD knowledge

You Have:

  • 3rd year in bachelor's in engineering, preferably mechanical engineering
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel to various sawmill locations in BC and Alberta
  • Good communication skills for working with different teams

Would Be An Asset:

  • A working knowledge of Engineering Drawings such as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Proficiency in using an Engineering Drawing program such as AutoCAD or Solid Works, etc.
