Job Description

Reporting directly to the Chief Communications, Vice President Strategy & Partnerships, the Director Communications & Public Affairs (Director) supports the facilitation, development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive internal and external communications outcomes that support Halton Healthcare and outstanding patient care.

The Director works collaboratively across the hospitals, partnering with Human Resources on communications initiatives to support human resource challenges. Leading a diverse and skilled team of communication experts, the Director delivers strategic communications planning and execution, media relations, issues management, social media, digital communications, and correspondence to both internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will come with a minimum of 8 years' experience at a senior communications management level obtained within public sector environments – ideally with healthcare experience.

  • A post-secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related discipline is required.
  • You are well versed in developing and implementing multi-stakeholder communications,
  • You have acted as the trusted communications and issues advisor to senior leaders and have a track record of demonstrated leadership skills.
  • You are well-versed in strategic communications, including public engagement, issues management, brand enhancement, and digital and social media.
  • You are a relationship builder, and are known for your strong collaboration, leadership skills, communication skills, and a service-oriented approach that enables the work of others.
