About UJA Federation of Greater Toronto

At UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, our vision is to lead the most vibrant Jewish community in North America - a community characterized by its diversity, unity, compassion, generosity and commitment to Jewish values. Together with our philanthropic, volunteer and professional leadership, we're changing lives.

As one of North America's leading Jewish non-profits, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto works to preserve and strengthen the quality of Jewish life in Greater Toronto, Canada, Israel and around the world. UJA advances this mission through fundraising, programs, and research focused on our strategic pillars: fighting poverty and improving well-being, growing Jewish education and identity, countering antisemitism and hate, and strengthening connections with Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.

About the Opportunity

The Integrated Development team is looking to hire a dynamic Vice President, Community Mobilization to lead a high performing team with the mandate of cultivating and stewarding relationships by mobilizing community members and organizations to engage in large scale and smaller, strategic initiatives. • Mobilizing the community in times of celebration and crisis. This kind of mass mobilization often includes rallies, the Walk with Israel, and many other key community events.
  • Partnering, supporting and empowering grassroots leaders and organizations as they work toward addressing large challenges being faced by the Jewish community.
  • Mobilizing community members to engage with strategic programs and initiatives, developed by the mobilization team, or by other teams within UJA. • Liaise and support key grassroots organizations to build stronger relationships, partnerships and improve how we interact and collaborate with key partners
  • Interact with various departments within UJA to help develop programs and strategies to mobilize against key organizational priorities (e.g. antisemitism)
  • Develop a strong engagement ladder – build a pipeline of prospective donors and volunteer leaders, and co-create a plan with development professionals to inspire greater involvement with UJA
  • Recruit, motivate, develop and retain talent to deliver impactful results; champion a flexible, agile and inclusive work environment, prioritizing health and well-being of team

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, marketing or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of non-profit or community-based experience, including interaction with senior executives
  • Political experience highly recommended
  • Previous experience managing and developing talent; passionate about helping people learn and grow
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues, community members, donors, lay leaders, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a busy environment
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and associated functions
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional applications and platforms as needed
  • Knowledge of Salesforce an asset
  • Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
  • A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skills and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
  • Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results
  • An ability to think strategically and critically
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
