The Opportunity

BSG offers a unique opportunity for a Human Resources Manager, with marine experience, wanting to take on the responsibility for managing and overseeing all human resource activities for the company's three main departments: Floatel Operations, Marine Support Services, and Marine Construction. This role encompasses full-cycle HR responsibilities, including labor relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, travel logistics, and contract management. The Human Resources Manager will ensure that HR practices and objectives provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity, and standards. This shall be achieved by the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy .
  • Develop and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of HR strategies, systems and procedures across all departments.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by providing a supportive and open-door environment.

Crew Management:

  • Full scope management of local crew under Bridgemans Crew Management Ltd.
  • Work closely with Ship Management team to support and manage international crew management as owner representative.

Labor Relations:

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, particularly those of domestic and foreign marine crews
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of all employees (domestic and foreign), reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all HR policies and procedures are communicated effectively.
  • Regularly review and update policies to ensure compliance with laws and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and interpretation of HR policies and procedures to employees and management.
  • Monitor the application of policies and procedures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for all departments (Floatel Operations, Marine Support Services, and Marine Construction)
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies specific for each project or position.
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, and employees.
  • Coordinate and implement college recruiting initiatives.
  • Administer and evaluate tests related to recruitment and selection.

Onboarding/Offboarding:

  • Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring they are smoothly integrated into the company.
  • Conduct orientations and coordinate training programs.
  • Manage the organization's HRIS to ensure all appropriate documentation and files are received.

Benefits Administration:

  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and insurance providers to resolve benefit-related issues and ensure effective utilization of plans.

Contract Management:

  • Oversee the management of employment contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions are met.
  • Maintain records of employee contracts and monitor expiration dates and renewals.

Performance Management:

  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, and procedures across the organization.
  • Support and coach managers on performance management and employee development.
  • Manage annual performance management program.

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all international, federal, provincial, and seafarer employment laws.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation.
  • Work closely with the organizations ship managers to ensure compliance with all international standards.

Employee Development:

  • Identify training needs and recommend the creation or procurement of professional development curricula
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops.

Qualifications:

Preferred Candidates will possess the following, in additional to the general requirements:

  • Individuals who have marine industry experience and knowledge, this may include work in marine companies, shipyards, maritime logistics, or similar sectors.
  • Understanding of international maritime laws and regulations, including International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements.
  • Current or past mariners with shore experience in manning/crewing.

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional HR certification (CPHR).
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience.
  • 7-10 years of direct experience in talent, coaching, and/or organizational development.
  • Familiarity with employment law, health and safety regulations, and labor relations, especially those pertinent to the maritime industry.
  • Marine Construction industry experience and knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations both local and international.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Experience with HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:

  • The role may require occasional travel between company projects both locally and internationally.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
