We're currently seeking to add a VP of Finance to our executive team in Saskatoon. Position Summary:

The VP of Finance provides global leadership to the Finance & Accounting functions within the Company, focusing on strategic leadership and management of the financial function of the Company. The role works closely with the CEO as part of the Executive team, providing strategic financial input to the global leadership team. The position develops and implements financial, accounting and treasury procedures to improve the financial health of the Company, while ensuring best practices are being followed.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Directs and oversees the Company's finance department, which includes (but is not limited to) financial policy development and implementation, management of accounting systems, budget planning and implementation, risk management and insurance, taxation, short-and-long-term forecasting, strategic planning, setting of financial goals and objectives that align with business operations and strategy.
  • Provides financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and executive team.
  • Analyzes and reports on financial performance and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Monitors and manages cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs.
  • Oversees financial strategies and manages financial risks.
  • Ensures accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Finalizes and presents financial reports to internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Leads, manages and mentors the finance and accounting teams.
  • Develops and implements financial policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.
  • Working closely with the Financial Controller, oversees all accounting operations, including payables, receivables, payroll and general ledger.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant financial regulations, across multiple different countries.
  • Identifies and manages financial risks and develops strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Oversees audits and coordinators with external auditors as required.
  • Evaluates potential mergers, acquisitions and other strategic investments.
  • Leads financial due diligence and integration efforts for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with both internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Is the primary contact with our parent company's Finance, Treasury and Insurance Departments.
  • Oversees global consolidation of financial reporting to our parent company.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • CPA designation is required.
  • Qualified to work in Canada is required.
  • Ability to travel international is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business is required. MBA is an asset.
  • A minimum of 10+ years finance/accounting experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience managing a staff.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proven experience leading finance in a multi division or multi country business.
  • Proven experience within food production or manufacturing industries
