Quality Engineer

Overall Responsibilities:

Day to day quality system of the Woodstock plant.

Ensure that the quality, capability and performance targets of both the product and manufacturing processes are met.

Increase product quality through the continuous improvement of process and work practices.

Maintain a competitive advantage from a quality standpoint for AMTB's manufacturing processes.

Provide and use quality and technical knowledge and skills to support other ArcelorMittal's business processes.

Understand the long term mission and objectives of the organization and ensure alignment of the quality department.

Accountabilities:

Support the APQP process during tooling and/or part design change/launch activities.

Lead in the preparation, documentation and maintenance of all PPAP related documentation while fully qualifying the product, process and/or equipment.

Collaborate with the Engineering and Production teams in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures for all equipment and processes.

Lead the containment, root cause and corrective action activities for both supplier and customer related quality issues.

Assist with the control and disposition of both internal and external nonconforming product, following the appropriate ArcelorMittal procedures.

Assist in the maintenance of ArcelorMittal specific requirements and the communication of these to the supply base.

Assist in the development and presentation of quality control related training material.

Provide training and leadership to co-workers regarding Standard Operating Procedures, Lessons Learned and Safe Work Practices.

Provide manufacturing/technical leadership and knowledge to support all aspects of production.

Lead continuous improvement and/or cost reduction activities to enhance the product quality or production systems.

Support the Quality Technicians, ensuring that the products and processes conform to the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.

Assist with the maintenance and compliance of all applicable QMS requirements, including but not limited to TS16949 and customer specific requirements.

Assist in the implementation and maintenance of all QMS related quality audits.

Assist with the maintenance and compliance of all applicable Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements, including but not limited to ISO14001 & OHSAS.

Liaise with various QMS and EMS related regulatory bodies, as required.

Work collaboratively and support all AMTB facilities quality departments with improving quality systems and practises.

Prepare immediate responsed for customer concerns.

Coordinate containment, sort/rework actions for external/internal issues.

Leads and coordinates problem solving for customer concerns (customer specific using Fast Response).

Performs customer good will visits.

Monitor Customer Scorecards on a daily basis, communicate any changes immediately and report out monthly to management team with status.

Leads and coordinates the RPN reduction team.

Participates in Layered Process Audits (LPA) and supports closure of open items found.

Paticipate in WCM initiatives.

To monitor and to assess welding output produced through the robotic process to determine the integrity, quality and other characteristics of the weld.

To assist in the development of best practices and weld parameters with respect to robotic welding applications within a production environment.

Conducts internal audits to current procedures as assigned.

Fulfill all Health and Safety & Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Canadian HSE Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 Management Systems.

Professionally represent ArcelorMittal while visiting customer's and supplier's locations, while fully complying with their Health and Safety requirements while on-site.

Ensure QMS conforms to the requirements identified in IATF 16949 and AMTB Process Map.

Fulfill all responsibilities as identified in the Employee Handbook.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Other information:

Travel requirement: Minimal ( +/- 15%)

Reporting to: Quality Manager

Education – discipline Undergraduate or college degree (or equivalent) with a focus in quality is required.

Experience: 0 - 5 years

Technical Skills

Proficient in MS Office products (advanced Excel and PowerPoint)

Working knowledge of CMS or similar MRP system

Process control, problem identification and solving

Personal Skills

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to lead cross functional teams.

High degree of integrity.

Proven ability to achieve results.

Other

Automotive experience is required
