HEABC leads and supports the strategic planning related to human resources and labour relations on behalf of British Columbia's publicly funded health employers. HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 179,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more.

OPPORTUNITY:

HEABC has an opportunity for a skilled negotiator to work within the Medical Staff Services portfolio. Working within a collegial and service-oriented environment, you will work with a team of lawyers and other professional staff to support and/or conduct negotiations for physician and medical staff contracts, provide advice and analysis on a range of policy and human resources issues, and advise or represent the government or BC's Health Authorities on disputes arising under the Physician Master Agreement, physician contracts or related legislation.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, very strong writing and analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

This position is well-suited for a highly skilled negotiator interested in pursuing a career in a challenging and interesting segment of the public sector, and who values the opportunity to make a positive public contribution through their work.

Required Experience & Knowledge:

A masters' degree in a related discipline and seven (7) to ten (10) years recent related experience in negotiating, labour relations, or health care. Extensive experience includes drafting, and interpreting contracts and settlement documents.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and work with teams.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills including the ability to plan, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate programs and services.
  • Ability to establish partnerships.
  • Proven ability to analyze situations, identify areas in need of improvement and implement innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-team member environment.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.

Salary Range: $124,561 to $163,486

Typical Hiring Range: $124,561 to $155,701

In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate's skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
