Production Leaders are responsible for the leadership of production shifts to ensure that the manufacturing process is completed as required, in compliance with safety, quality and production standards. They Lead, Inspire, Build and Motivate a high-performance team that delivers on our higher purpose – ‘Enriching the lives of our partners'.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with our higher purpose, values alignment and our employee centered culture.
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to production employees, to ensure that their duties are carried out safely, efficiently and accurately.
  • Coach and motivate employees by providing consistent and ongoing communication.
  • Supervise and ensure training of employees in the area of production requirements, procedures, safety, quality and the operation of production equipment.
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance while collaborating with the project managers, builder services, engineering/drafting, and other production leaders to ensure that Steelway's customers are satisfied.
  • Responsible for the shift schedule to include work assignments, thinking strategically to optimize labor efficiencies through effective task assignments. Managing employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, and back-up for absent employees.
  • Communicate with the other shifts to ensure relevant information, including priorities, are passed on accurately.
  • Assisting in the development of new products and methods, and the refinement of existing products and methods;
  • Communicate effectively to other Production Leaders and other departments regarding the process and other significant events to other shifts both verbally and through shift reports.
  • Complete shift paperwork; payroll authorization and assignment, and all other shift administrative duties accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure all employees work in a safe and healthy plant environment, demonstrating consistent safe work practices, adhering and enforcing all company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Practice active problem-solving strategies to effectively address issues as they arise
  • Administering the Steelway Employee Association agreement and ensuring that employees' questions and concerns are answered promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OHSA), promote safe working practices including safe equipment operation, hazard reporting, and awareness of rights.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • A Production Leader must have minimum 2-3 years of leadership and supervisory experience and abilities working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or relevant work experience
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Knowledge of welding and related processes would be considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail is needed.
  • Work as part of a Cross-functional team and independently with excellent personal time management skills.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Flexible during times of change. A leader through times of change.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Ability to multi-task, assist and coach others where required.
  • Excellent communication skills and teambuilding abilities
  • Ability to work within a high-performance culture
  • Mechanical/Technical aptitude an asset
