As the Environmental Manager, your role will be crucial in developing qualifications and proposals for upcoming projects in Western Canada. You will play a key part in ensuring environmental management and compliance within the assigned projects. Please note that this role is for the Woodfibre LNG project 7 km from Squamish. This is daytime shift based work (14/7) at a remote project site with accommodations on a Floatel. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working within this environment.
What YOU Will Do
  • Lead and ensure the development and implementation of the project requirements and documentation as well as the implementation of contract environmental requirements and other environmental requirements (e.g. legal).
  • Lead environmental review of design, construction methods, compensation, planning, etc.
  • Act as the project environmental leader and representative; be accountable for project environmental performance and compliance.
  • Liaise with the client representative, as well with authorities, on environmental aspects of the project.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the project team, as well as with the client other parties, in the achievement of the project and to ensure the implementation and compliance to environmental requirements.
  • Follow permitting schedule and process.
  • Participate in the feedback management process at the early stage of the project: receive feedback, provide input to other team members, analyze feedback, take part in decision making, provide feedback to appropriate parties.
  • Lead and manage Environmental team as well as financial and material resources.
  • Lead and supervise environmental permitting for the project, in compliance with project contract, including the planning.
  • Ensure project environmental compliance with environmental and regulatory approvals.
  • Participate, when required, in consultation, engagement or collaboration activities.
  • Implement and manage project's environmental management system (EMS).
  • Oversee environmental auditing on the project.
  • Support project proposals within a multi-disciplinary team.

What YOU Will Bring
  • Hold a university degree in the field of environment, sustainable development, environmental engineering or another similar field.
  • Current holder of a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) designation.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience with progressive responsibility in environmental management on complex projects.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Canadian and British Columbia environmental laws and regulations, particularly on the Environmental Assessment process and permitting.
  • Understanding on the implementation of archaeological and heritage requirements.
  • Understanding the complexity navigating the relationship of Indigenous Nations, communities, and Governmental Authorities in British Columbia, particularly in the Vancouver area.
  • Emotional intelligence.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with a cooperative spirit.
  • Knowledge of the construction field is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and with great autonomy.
  • Ability to travel as per project requirements within British Columbia.

The expected salary range for this opportunity is $93,000-127,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate's experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program, which is listed above. The availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
