The Park Appearance Supervisor, reporting to the Facilities and Grounds Manager, oversees the Landscaping, Custodial and Park Appearance team members. This role is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and safety of the park to a high standard. From ensuring the buildings that are part of the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park are cleaned thoroughly to ensuring the landscaping is upkept to making sure all pathways are cleaned daily this role is multifaceted and requires a strong focus on team member engagement.
The Park Appearance Supervisor is responsible for supervising all Landscaping, Custodial and Park Appearance Team Members to ensure assigned tasks are completed on time and to the highest standards possible and that Team Members are continually growing and developing in their role with CSBP. In addition to Supervisory responsibilities this role becomes the Manager of the Day for the Facilities and Grounds Team when the assistant Manager and Manager are not onsite.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures cleanliness throughout the Park is maintained at a high caliber by working with the Assistant F&G Manager to delegate daily tasks to the Team Members,
  • Takes responsibility for the Facilities and Grounds Department as Manager on Duty when the Assistant Facilities and Grounds Manager and the Manager are away from the Park,
  • Responds to security calls as a first point of contact should an alarm go off outside park operating hours
  • Plans and prioritizes cleaning and landscaping work for the team, ensuring daily, weekly and monthly cleaning throughout the park is accomplished,
  • Assists the F&G management team with strategic scheduling of the Park Appearance, Landscaping and Custodial staff throughout the week based on major projects,
  • Supports the Facilities & Grounds Manager and Projects Coordinator to ensure the efficient execution and communication of projects,
  • Supports the Facilities and Grounds Manager and Assistant Manager with the monitoring of sub trades ensuring proper safety measures are taken and the work is done according to our high standards with minimal impact on guests.
  • Coordinates Park Appearance related projects with a focus on ensuring deadlines and met and limited interruption to park offerings occurs,
  • Manages work order completion for all Park Appearance tasks including assigning, inspecting, following up and tracking with Trello,
  • Determines the needed supplies and equipment and making recommendations for new products to the Assistant Manager and Supervisor,
  • Monitors cleaning and landscaping equipment to ensure maintenance is kept up and items that need repair are serviced,
  • Ensures proper inventory of materials and supplies used for cleaning and used by guests in washrooms and kitchens within the park,
  • Creates and executes plans to maintain cleanliness year-round with seasonal deep cleaning activities.
  • Assists and responds in a timely manner to requests at Prospect Point and Stanley Park Pavilion,
  • Executes any reasonable directive from the Facilities & Grounds Manager/ Assistant Manager, GM and Executive Leadership team,

Qualifications:
  • 5 years of custodial experience,
  • 5 years of supervisory experience working in a Parks and or facilities operations, with project management experience,
  • Experience coordinating a variety of activities, meeting deadlines, working independently, making decisions and initiating actions,
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written,
  • Strong computer literacy and IT ability to manage departmental information, and adaptable with new internal software and systems,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of team members, senior management and external vendors,
  • Collaborative leadership style,
  • Strong guest service focus
Working conditions:
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays,
  • Required to be on their feet for an extended period of time,
  • Required to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, rain and winter conditions,
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 100lbs and climb a ladder.

Compensation for this position is $27.50 per hour.
