Drake International is hiring on behalf of our client, a reputable electrical manufacturing, valve servicing, and electrical/instrumentation contracting company. What You Will Do:
Fit-up weldments according to mechanical engineered drawings and product specifications.
Setup CC and CV welding machines to achieve desired quality results.
Utilize small hand tools, clamps, and grinders to fit-up and weld structural and sheet metal products.
Perform light maintenance on welding equipment such as replacing contact tips and nozzles, weld gun assemblies, drive rolls on wire feeders, and safely exchange shielding gas bottles.
Instruct, mentor, and monitor apprentices.
Execute advanced complex welds.
Operate plasma cutters, automatic band saw, and Mag drill.
Participate in ongoing safety training and promote a safety culture.
Assist lead persons with training and mentoring other employees.
Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying potential risks to product quality.
Maintain clean and well-organized work areas.
Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring:
Valid Provincial or Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman's Welder certification.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Journeyman in a related structural steel fabrication field.
CWB Certification (considered an asset).
Experience with overhead cranes (10-80 ton) and forklift operation (3000#-20000#).
Safety certifications (considered an asset).Comprehension and understanding of shop drawings.
Ability to read or learn to understand various welding symbols.
Flexibility to meet changing demands and adjust to new responsibilities and tasks.
Effective problem-solving skills and ability to influence proper actions to resolve issues.
Proficiency in reading a tape measure, including conversions between fractions, decimals, and metric to imperial.
Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable in job performance.
Adherence to core values and beliefs during both good and bad times.
A sense of urgency and a collaborative approach to problem-solving and driving results.
Consistent work approach with effective methods to complete and monitor tasks to meet deadlines.
Adaptability to new ideas, technology, processes, and product changes.
