JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quality Assurance Manager / Management Representative ISO/IATF 16949 is responsible for, but not limited to, managing the Quality Assurance and Project Engineering department to maintain quality standards in accordance with customer requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and practices to ensure the safety of all employees. Ensure supervision and their employees know how to perform work assignments in an efficient manner and that they are fully aware of the correct and safe way to operate their equipment.
  • Oversee and orchestrate the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system within the Cambridge Plant to meet ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 and CSR.
  • Setting key performance indicators and targets or the quality and project engineering department in conjunction with the development of continuous improvement meeting J2 Priorities.
  • Establish and set goals and objectives for the quality and project engineering department team at the Cambridge plant. Work with each team member to ensure quality plan and goals/objectives are being achieved.
  • Develops quality and project engineering department employees by ensuring they receive required training to allow them to excel in their assignments. Provides clear and specific performance feedback and appraises the effectiveness of quality and project engineering department employees on their annual developmental review.
  • Monitors and reviews departmental production results, costs, and product quality.
  • Work with corporate engineering/procurement team to establish quality requirements for external suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with the customer requirements, quality policy, company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide quality assurance support to manufacturing in all area, including processes/procedures, product defects or product testing.
  • Ensure that quality and project engineering department personnel comply with all Employment and Health & Safety Legislation, the Collective Agreement and Company policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings with Plant Management to discuss customer concerns, production requirements, Health & Safety, new launches and maintenance.
  • Delivers on commitments made, treats people at all levels fairly and with respect. Provides direction to quality and project engineering department personnel in matters relating to labour relations, safety, housekeeping, first aid, etc. Reviews completed work for conformance to standards, costs and quality.
  • Compliance to Section 25 and 26 of the OHSA and to provide full support of our environmental requirements and certifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Ideally have 5 or more years of management experience in a manufacturing related environment, including supervisory experience in a union environment
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • knowledge of customer shipping requirements, inventory controls, production scheduling, engineering systems/procedures and plant raw materials.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. Strong project management skills to manage and co-ordinate internal and external project resources.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and other manufacturing related software (Minitab, PACT7).
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and experience in administering collective agreements would be an asset.
