Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety & Wellness and working alongside the Safety Team Lead, the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing support in the implementation and monitoring of employee safety and prevention programs in alignment with legislation, best practices, and departmental and organizational goals and objectives. This role is responsible for:

  • Working within a team to maintain the corporate health and safety program, ensuring that Halton Healthcare complies with applicable regulations, standards and guidelines.
  • Review all incident reports and inspection reports and initiate necessary follow-up actions in consultation with internal stakeholders to mitigate workplace risks.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct incident investigations, assist with assessing problems and potential hazards, reviewing and advising on potential solutions and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Analyzing data for trends and creating reports for JHSC or Senior Leadership groups.
  • Providing in-person/virtual unit support during huddles or orientation
  • Assisting with the development and facilitation of training, communications and resources related to employee safety and well-being
  • Conducting N95 mask fit testing
  • Receiving, following up, and directing or responding to employee ergonomic inquires in a timely and professional manner
  • Assisting in administrative tasks relevant to the safety, occupational health and wellness portfolios
  • Other related duties and assistance to the department as required
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Occupational Health and Safety, Kinesiology, or Life Sciences is preferred.
  • Certificate in Occupation Health and Safety an asset.
  • 2 years work experience in Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness an asset
  • Working knowledge and understanding of all relevant occupational health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Work, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint required.
  • Working knowledge of WSIB & WSIB Safety Excellence Program preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • An understanding of workflow process analysis, incident investigation and risk management principles required.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills with an ability to handle multiple competing projects with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting considered an asset.
  • Positive employment and attendance record

Additional Information

Salary: $31.75 - $39.73 per hour
