General Job Description:

This position will report to the Quality Department Supervisor, and with technical direction from Quality, you will be required to work and provide technical support in the development of quality methods, systems, and work procedures. The Quality Control Technician will specialize in the development of quality processes (plastics). This position is responsible for ensuring quality standards as required for manufacturing the products and in line with the needs of the customers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the internal Quality Control group, schedule daily responsibilities, overtime and support to customer sites as needed for the QC group.
  • Responsible for managing external and internal nonconformance reporting system through SKPI/QRE/QIMS system.
  • Performs and audits first/middle/last quality checks on all mass production products
  • Performs and audits daily functional or color checks on all required products.
  • Initiates internal containment / sorting for defects found internally and at customer site.
  • Maintains documents and records according to departmental requirements
  • Updates and maintains quality meeting boards for daily meeting
  • Performs daily audits of finished and in-process goods to verify part quality
  • Collects inspection results and summarizes in reports to review with management.
  • Assists in pre-production trials, injection, assembly and paint.
  • Train quality inspectors in the proper use of measuring instruments, 5P root cause analysis and gauging
  • Travel and support to Palmerston when needed.
  • Travel and support to any TMMC plant and other customer for sorts, covering QRE, training or any other customer requirement.
  • Part dimensional layout utilizing check fixtures and appropriate measuring equipment (i.e. Vernier calipers, steel rule, height gauge)
  • TG Minto may amend the reporting structure, timings and/or duties and responsibilities as business needs require.
  • Work in a safe manner and maintain 5S.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be physically capable of performing the required duties.
  • Must be a strong team player and have leadership skills to handle a team.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Must have good computer skills including MS office for making PPTs, reports and graphical representation.
  • Must have an excellent attendance record.
  • Must have strong performance in current role.

  • Must demonstrate a high level of customer service and interpersonal skills in your daily work
  • Must exhibit professionalism under pressure and demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions
  • Must be able to pass a colour blindness test
  • Demonstrated ability to follow all TG Minto policies and procedures
  • Education level will be considered
  • Must have a valid G license and own vehicle
  • Experience in leading a team is an asset.
