The Kitchen Helper is responsible for dishwashing, working on the counter during meals, assisting with serving meals, cleaning and unpacking food supplies.
ABOUT YWCA TORONTO – CAMP TAPAWINGO
YWCA Camp Tapawingo is a summer camp near Parry Sound for girls and gender diverse youth ages 6-16 providing leadership and skill development. The Outdoor Centre at Tapawingo offers outdoor education opportunities in the spring and fall to women, families and community groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Washes dishes and cleans as assigned by the Head Cook;
  • Attends a pre-camp training week;
  • Participate in a one-day Health Department Training provided during pre-camp;
  • Assists in the preparation of all meals for 150 people as assigned by the Head Cook;
  • Abides by all health regulations as explained during pre-camp;
  • Reports any problems to the Head Cook;
  • Works as part of a team;
  • Adjust one's actions while on site to conform with the YWCA Camp Tapawingo policies and procedures;
  • Any other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Grade 10 or equivalent;
  • Ability to work collaboratively;
  • Ability to maintain a positive approach.
Note: This position is required to live on-site at camp during the season and receives room, board and transportation. This a Full-Time, contract position for 8 weeks.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Eligible applicant must:
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment;
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
