Key Responsibilities

As a Pipefitter-Steamfitter, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Selecting, measuring, cutting, reaming, and threading pipe
  • Scheduling materials, tools, and personnel
  • Liaising with management, engineers, and other trades
  • Instructing apprentices
  • Connecting piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors, and control equipment
  • Installing clamps, brackets, and hangers to support piping systems and fire protection equipment
  • Installing valves, alarms, and associated equipment
  • Joining pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining pipe units and fittings

  • Measuring, cutting, threading, and bending pipes to required shapes and sizes
  • Removing and replacing worn components and reactivating systems
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications

Supervision

You will be responsible for supervising 1 to 2 people, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Experience: 2 to less than 3 years in the field
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Driver's License
  • Steamfitter and Pipefitter Trade Certification
  • Steamfitter and Pipefitter Red Seal Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • Confined Space Entry Training
  • Fall Arrest Protection Training Course
