About the Job
This is a seasonal position that requires a commitment of 95 hours bi-weekly. As a Weed Control Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the aesthetic and ecological integrity of our rural landscapes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Weeding, pruning, and trimming trees and plants
- Cutting grass and raking/collecting refuse
- Removing litter and garbage
- Carting and spreading topsoil and other materials
- Laying sod or seed and planting bulbs, flowers, shrubs, and trees
- Applying fertilizers and maintaining equipment
- Writing daily basic progress reports
- Watering and tending to plants, lawns, and gardens
- Operating and maintaining landscape maintenance equipment
- Tree removal
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 1 to less than 7 months in a related field
- Language: English
- Certificates: Provincial licence/certification to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides; First Aid Certificate
- Transportation: Own transportation and a valid driver's licence (public transportation is not available)
- Security: Driving record check (abstract)
