Your Responsibilities

  • Drive lighter, special purpose trucks and tow trucks.
  • Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Inspect vehicle conditions including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage equipment.
  • Manage payment transactions for goods and services rendered.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs as needed.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing all vehicle aspects.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
  • Relay information to central dispatch effectively.
  • Maintain records of cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods safely.

Qualifications

  • Education: No degree, certificate or diploma required
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years in a similar role
  • Licenses:
    • Air Brakes Endorsement
    • Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)
    • Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles)
    • Extended Trailer Combination Permit or Endorsement

  • Bill of lading
  • Driver logbook
  • Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)

Work Conditions and Skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to handle large workloads.
