About the Role

This is a permanent position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a vital role in preparing cost estimates, analyzing tenders, and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates of labor and material costs
  • Develop pre-qualification submissions for clients
  • Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements
  • Utilize CADD and other computer software systems
  • Conduct economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects
  • Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms
  • Apply quantity take-off procedures
  • Advise on tendering procedures
  • Analyze tenders and recommend awards
  • Establish cost monitoring and reporting systems
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
  • Maintain a directory of supplies and trade contractors
  • Communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding cost estimates
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for compliance

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: 5 years or more in relevant fields, or equivalent experience
  • Certificates: Gold Seal Membership in the Canadian Construction Association, Membership in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Membership in the Professional Corporation for Estimators
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Project and CADD software
