About the Role

This is a permanent position with a full-time workload ranging from 40 to 50 hours per week. As an HVAC Mechanic, you will work on-site, performing various tasks that ensure the functionality and efficiency of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You will be instrumental in installing, maintaining, and repairing systems that play a vital role in our customers' comfort.

Your Responsibilities

  • Install and overhaul heating systems
  • Install ventilation, air handling, and air conditioning systems
  • Measure and lay out reference points for installation
  • Prepare tenders and quotations
  • Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements
  • Troubleshoot heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems
  • Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components
  • Coach and instruct apprentices
  • Measure, cut, and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Start up systems and test for leaks using appropriate devices
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as recharging systems with refrigerant
  • Handle, recover, and store refrigerants
  • Repair and replace parts and components for entire systems

Qualifications

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience

Certifications

  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate
  • Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of energy conservation, computerized monitoring, and electrical devices
  • Experience with pneumatic devices and direct digital control systems
  • Proficient in using on-board diagnostics and programmable logic controllers (PLC)
