Work Environment

As a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Apprentice, you'll be exposed to a variety of worksite environments including:

• Noisy
• Hot
• Cold/refrigerated
• Outdoors
• At heights
• Dusty

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Measure and lay out reference points for installation
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components
• Coach and instruct fellow apprentices
• Measure, cut, and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Start up systems and test for leaks using various testing devices
• Perform maintenance tasks such as recharging systems with refrigerant
• Interpret gas codes and handle refrigerants responsibly
• Repair and replace parts for complete refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, or heat pump systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
• Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specifications
• Fit and join sheet metal parts according to industry standards

Qualifications

• Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate
• Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate
