About the Role

In this role, you will play a crucial part in preparing accurate estimates for various projects, ensuring that we meet our clients' needs while maintaining our high standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and material costs for projects.
• Compile pre-qualification submissions to present to clients.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Prepare master format estimates (Class A) and elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D).
• Utilize CADD and other computer software systems effectively.
• Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads.
• Conduct economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.
• Project cash flow and financing requirements.
• Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms.
• Utilize quantity take-off procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Advise on tendering procedures and analyze tenders to recommend awards.
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems.
• Monitor and adjust contract expenditures as necessary.
• Maintain a directory of supplies and trade contractors.
• Liaise and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding cost estimates.

Qualifications

Education

• College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 to 2 years.

Experience

• 3 to less than 5 years of related experience in civil engineering.
