We are seeking a talented and experienced First Cook to join our culinary team in Richmond, Canada. As a First Cook, you will play a crucial role in managing kitchen operations, preparing exceptional meals, and leading a team of kitchen staff to deliver outstanding dining experiences for our customers.

  • Oversee and participate in the preparation of high-quality, nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Manage daily kitchen operations, including staff supervision and scheduling
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety standards, health regulations, and cleanliness protocols
  • Develop and update menus based on seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
  • Manage inventory, place orders, and maintain budget guidelines
  • Collaborate with other departments to meet client needs and preferences
  • Train, mentor, and support kitchen staff to foster a positive and efficient work environment
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures for all food preparation and presentation
  • Assist in creating and standardizing recipes to ensure consistency in taste and quality
  • Respond flexibly to changing demands and special requests from clients

Qualifications
  • Culinary diploma or equivalent qualification in culinary arts
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a cook, with at least 1 year in a leadership role
  • Current Food Safety Certification
  • Extensive knowledge of various cuisines, cooking techniques, and food trends
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Proficiency in menu planning and recipe development
  • Experience with inventory management and cost control
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in culinary skills
  • A clear criminal background check is required for this position
