WHAT'S THE JOB?
The Breakfast Cook contributes to the overall success of the culinary team by getting our guests started each day with a hearty breakfast. Working overnight, the Breakfast Cook is responsible for producing all required items as per contract scope daily, while maintaining a clean and enticing display of products during service. The Breakfast Cook will demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:
- All meals and accommodations are provided
- Travel is provided to and from the site locations from a designated hub location in Edmonton, AB
- Private room with cable television
- Access to Wi-Fi
- Access to laundry facilities and detergents
- Access to a gym and common areas
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and cooking breakfast for guests at site
- Creating and following menus to ensure quality of food prepared and served
- Ensuring consistent quality of standard in over-all food preparation as per clients' requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints
- Ensuring proper equipment operation, safety and sanitization in the kitchen
- Complying with food safety regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act
- Cleaning, washing and sanitizing equipment and over-all work areas
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Previous experience providing a hot breakfast service is required
- Large-scale cooking experience in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset
- Experience with producing baked goods (scratch baking and/or pre-fab items) is an asset
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset
- Current Food Safe certification is required
- Current First Aid level 1 certification is an asset
- A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
- Knowledge of basic computer skills for the completion of online learning modules for training
- Capacity to successfully perform drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site
- Ability to handle the following physical demands:
- Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Perform work with arms at full length
- Work with arms above shoulder height

Work schedule and remuneration:
Breakfast Cooks work on a rotational schedule of 4 weeks on/2 weeks off in Nunavut. You may be required to work weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $21.00 per hour.
