WHAT'S THE JOB?
This position is located northern Ontario.
The Food Service Director is in charge of organizing, planning, preparing and/or directing the preparation of daily food service operations and franchise operations according to established standards. This role also performs the administrative and financial duties for the unit such as ordering and resolving discrepancies with suppliers and customers, creation and adherence to budgets for all related costs of the operation and supervising and training all staff within their charge. All job responsibilities below are based on compliance with both corporate and franchise brand expectations and standards.
- Work with clients and customers to meet their needs/requests while staying within budgeted restrictions and adhering to all company practices and policies.
- Weekly and period review of financial management responsibilities. Implement strategy to realign financial goals as it relates to budget management, food cost, labor cost.
- Payroll management
- Adhere to all brand standards at all times, appearance, service, speed of service, ordering, food safety, etc.
- Establish and implement food preparation schedules, creating an efficient, safe, and organized process.
- Organize and schedule the logistics for daily operations, ensuring all preparation work is completed and waste is managed.
- Respond to customer and client concerns and requests immediately, resolving any issues that may arise.
- Implement new food service techniques (food preparation, food portioning…) and sales and marketing requirements as per the franchise operation.
- Complete regular workplace audits and inspections; health & safety, food safety, financial audits as required.
- Coordinate with Chef Manager/ Culinary Manger/ Supervisor to ensure timely billing and collections as applicable.
- When necessary, provide support to maintaining physical inventories, placing orders and help receive and stocking supplies, resolve discrepancies with suppliers, and escalate any and all issues unable to be resolved to Operations Supervisor and or District Manager.
- Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of projects and special events, attending when necessary.
- Ensure the sanitation of the work area and equipment, maintaining a clean working environment.
- Actively seek out and identify additional opportunities for business growth.
- Handle the administrative duties including payroll functions, employee management, daily cash handling and reporting, budgeting, and other duties that may arise during the operation of the unit.
- Responsible for the integrity of the cash flow process, ensuring staff are following all security procedures closely while performing periodic checks to ensure compliance.
- Analyze unit operational analytics and lead the implementation of change efforts to improve performance to meet or exceed standards.
- Assist with the hiring of staff to ensure a well-balanced, successful team is in place complying with corporate and franchise recruitment and hiring requirements.
- Ensure sufficient staffing levels on each shift to meet corporate and franchise requirements and standards; efforts will be required to maintain staffing levels in instances of absence.
- Ensure you and your team have completed all mandatory corporate and franchise training requirements with training records available upon request.
- Train and develop staff in proper procedures and best practices while also providing coaching to help staff members reach the next stage in their career development.
- Listens to customers (internal and external) and responds professionally to all questions and concerns, directing concerns to further levels of management as needed.
- Successfully balance providing front-line support while also overseeing the operation to ensure smooth consistent service achieving the corporate and franchise standards.
- Remain an ambassador of goodwill, ethics, and great client relations at all times on behalf of the Company.
- Supervise, coach, and provide feedback to staff based on job expectations and standards; providing corrective action when necessary.
- Motivate employees to meet goals and objectives as established by the Company.
- Assist with other unit operations as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Five years of recent related experience in the food service industry, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous franchise brand experience and/or certification is an asset
- ServeSafe and/or FoodSafe certified with thorough knowledge of all health and safety regulations pertaining to the food preparation/service industry
- Superior communication skills in both verbal and written English
- Able to effectively handle the concerns of employees, customers, and clients with tact while adhering to confidentiality policies
- Work accurately and in an efficient manner while managing multiple tasks and priorities
- Able to lead projects, forecast business needs, and identify and target growth opportunities
- Highly organized with a strong focus and commitment to quality
- Able to operate all related equipment in a safe manner
- Able to effectively use a computer and all related software, including POS equipment
- Reach and lift between 0-10 pounds from floor to shoulder height
- Frequent standing and walking required
