WHAT'S THE JOB?
- Prepare and cook dishes following the menus and recipes as per requirements.
- Control and maintain temperature of foods while cooking, meat cutting, and portioning.
- Ensure high standards in taste, preparation, and consistency to meet company standards
- Ensure all work stations are stocked and prepped for shifts.
- Calculate high volume food quantities based on recipe specifications.
- Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Must be flexible with work schedule and hours and adapt to schedule changes to accommodate operational requirements.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary work station.
- Need to be able to work in a cold environment under 4 degrees Celsius.
- Will need to train and oversee cook helpers as assigned
- Other related duties within the cooking area
- Opportunity to become supervisor for right candidate
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Post-secondary education or 1 year of formal training from a certified culinary institute an asset.
- Basic knowledge of food handling procedures, Food Handler Certificate an asset.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a high volume cooking
- Knowledge of HACCP processes and procedures is an asset
- Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to read and write in English.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Highly effective teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Food safe Level 1 and HACCP ( Preferred)
