- Operate crane on a constant basis, ensuring proper slinging techniques are used, to supply all lines/equipment with the necessary WIP/materials to move material.
- Sort steel by size and gauge to ensure delivery to proper area within the shop.
- Operating tandem crane and other cranes as and when required; ensure proper slinging techniques are employed.
- Operating forklift to load and unload slit coils and deliver other materials to proper area in the shop.
- Preparing waste for shipment including hazardous waste, scrap drums, strapping, trash.
- Ensuring 5S floor plan and material storage is maintained in respective departments.
- Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and time management in the performance of daily duties.
- Comply with all legislated and company' health, safety, environmental, quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Position requires significant crane experience to place materials in tight places.
- Knowledge of various types and sizes of steel in order to sort properly.
- Ability to read job requisition/cutting bills, flexibility and patience to handle multiple requests at the same time.
- Ability to work at a pace established by production standards.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills are required to interact with other team members.
- Position also requires physical ability to climb onto steel bundles to secure products for movement with crane or to break bundles down to move individual pieces.
- Willingness to work overtime as requested to meet customer needs, and to work afternoon shift, if required.
- Physical ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. is also required.
