Reporting to the Copy Lead, the English Copywriter will contribute to Laura Canada's success by creating accurate and compelling product and marketing copy for various channels including newsletters, social media and in-store signage. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to support on internal and external communications.

How will you support the team?

  • Write descriptive product copy and titles for products on our site, ensuring that they are effective and accurate
  • Validate that all information in our product descriptions is correct by verifying grammar, spelling and syntax
  • Interact with merchandising teams and advise them on content-related matters, such as product issues at the copywriting level, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Write highly effective and targeted copy for both the Laura and Melanie Lyne brands, including but not limited to landing pages, contest copy, homepages and static content pages
  • Write and edit copy for promotional and lifestyle emails, including subject lines, preheaders and body copy
  • Work with graphic designers to ensure copy tone and style are consistent with visual tone and style.
  • Write copy for online advertising initiatives, including PPC campaigns, social media ads and various display ads
  • Conduct terminology research and help to create best-in-class guidelines and processes
  • Ensure that all creative, editorial and product copy follows brand guidelines and tone of voice
  • Ensure that online content aligns with the defined SEO-strategy
  • Review and stay up-to-date on brand style guides

Qualifications

The people who thrive with us have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications/journalism or any other related field
  • 2-3 years of experience as a copywriter, preferably in retail
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to write in a range of voices and styles for varied projects and diverse audiences
  • Superior knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The ability to communicate in both French and English
  • Ability to work on-site a minimum of 2 days per week.
