JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager, you will Lead the Maintenance and Stores department to ensure that all policies and procedures are developed, implemented and followed regarding customer specifications, regulatory requirements and Food Safety & Quality requirements. Maintain contractor and vendor relationships.
- Salary: 95,000 - 125,000
Work Environment
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise, heat, oil, cold storage and moving machinery.
- Physical expectations light to medium.
- Availability for after-hours support and emergency maintenance situations.
- Occasional weekend and holiday work required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend departmental and plant Daily Management meetings for the purpose of identifying focus areas for Reliability team
- Develop and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all critical equipment.
- Ensure equipment and systems operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with our Quality Assurance programs
- Ability to improve processes and implement reliability systems to optimize resource costs while meeting expectations.
- Organize staff, direct and control maintenance operations to ensure that plant objectives are achieved in an effective and efficient manner
- Manage asset requirements to ensure operational requirements are met for the whole lifecycle
- Develop implementation plans, including budget and resource plans for all Reliability/Maintenance projects
- Collaborate with Plant & Corporate Engineering Teams to optimize equipment availability
- Provide accurate forecasting and ensure adherence to departmental budgets
- Provide day-to-day leadership of team, including hiring, development and performance management
- Participate in site audits (safety and Safe Quality Foods), ensuring action items are completed on time and on budget
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades and capital projects.
Essential Job Functions
Maintenance - The goal is for Plant process equipment to have 87% uptime. This equipment includes potato receiving, front end production, packaging, boiler and refrigeration, high voltage power distribution, water, etc. The stock room for all spare parts and consumable items also falls under your direction. Focus on preventative maintenance and pro-active maintenance systems (rather than reactive).
General : Responsible for development and controlled spending of overhead budgets and Capital projects. As a member of senior management, contribute to and lead initiatives for cost reduction, employee and food safety, employee engagement, contribute to and lead initiative for cost reduction, employee and food safety, employment engagement, future planning for site, risk reduction planning, and overall development of leadership for the site.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College Diploma or University Degree is required.
- Must possess a Bachelor of Engineering Degree or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Irving Standards.
