JOB DESCRIPTION
An Engineer, Industrial Engineering designs, plans, and executes improvements to processes, tools, workstations, and equipment for high quality, efficient operations in ship construction, delivery, and repair. The Engineer, Industrial Engineering influences stakeholders with a structured change management methodology and explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively manage proactive scope of work, which could include developing standards, performance metrics, capacity analysis, overall equipment effectiveness, material flow, visual management, industry benchmarking, research and development, and/or project planning.
  • Author processes and procedures documenting how to stabilize and control processes in ship design, repair, and construction.
  • Identify and action opportunities for Continuous Improvement within Industrial Engineering scope of work.
  • Identify and manage mitigation plans for risks associated with Industrial Engineering activities and initiatives.
  • Lead improvement, standardization, and/or mitigation plans and projects, including creative technical problem solving, seeking guidance from technical subject matter experts, and effective stakeholder management.
  • Utilize leading change principles to effectively engage stakeholders and institutionalize change.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or equivalent.
  • Certification, intermediate knowledge, and application of Lean Six Sigma, Change Management, Project Management, and other industry standards (e.g. ASME, IEEE, ASTM, etc.).
  • Ability to model and analyze systems in a simplified format for the purpose of illustrating the transformation of inputs, outputs and added value.
  • Training and experience in lean/six sigma or other improvement methodologies, i.e. yellow, lean, or green belt or equivalent, or interest and ability to obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience (typically 4-10 years) in an industrial or project management environment with a focus on analyzing and improving operational performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, navigate within a 3D model and/or simulation of the ship, develop & markup drawings, develop presentations and reports, develop technical specifications, perform technical investigations, and develop statement of work for subcontractors.
  • Analytical problem solving and data analysis.
  • Make risk-based technical decisions.
  • Ability to develop project scope or statements of work.
  • Verbal and written communication of issues to internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to engage employees at most levels of the organization.
  • Confidently engage in technical information sharing in cross-functional problem solving.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Lead/facilitate workshops and business updates.
