JOB DESCRIPTION
This will provide you the opportunity to work with Irving Shipbuilding in Halifax, Nova Scotia and other projects across the Maritimes as needed, this is a contract role with opportunity for extension.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Safe use of power tools and other demolition tools and equipment.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Material handling using forklifts or other equipment as needed.
• Familiar with safe lifting and rigging practices.
• Checking equipment to ensure inspections have not expired.
• Perform welding repairs or fabrication and installation at customer facilities
• Provide prompt and superior customer service.
• Exhibit and foster a commitment to our safety culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Trade Certification in Welding or Steel Fitting with valid tickets/certifications
• Journeyperson or Red Seal are considered an asset
• Must have excellent troubleshooting skills, and experience with rigging
• Specialty tickets (aluminum, stainless, pipe, etc.) are considered an asset
• Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license
• Pre-Employment Training in In Welding/Fitting is preferred.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Willingness to work varied shifts is required (day shift, night shift and weekends).
• Willing to travel
