JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a person who embraces the retail division values, including a passion for driving results, a focus on continuous improvement & innovation and team oriented. The Retail Division is a part of the JD Irving Limited group of companies. The retail division includes a number of companies including Kent Building Supplies, a large home improvement retailer with 49 locations in Atlantic Canada. Atlas Structural Systems, a manufacturer of pre-engineered structural systems with 11 locations in Atlantic Canada, Industrial Commercial Supplies Limited and Chandler Sales various divisions including sanitation, food services, apparel, communications, industrial and safety. This provides a unique opportunity to learn about multiple businesses
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare period end financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Responsible to complete account reconciliations.
- Completion of standard variance reporting.
- Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Lead for external audit activities.
- Participate in the development of a program to monitor and report on key controls.
- Play a key role in the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives for accounting and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Business Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or relevant work experience.
- Professional accounting designation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to read and interpret data.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly; demonstrate flexibility when presented with change.
- Strong communication skills, self-driven, motivated, brings value to every interaction.
- Experience with Microsoft D365 and Power BI would be an asset.
