JOB DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Planner provides direct support to the Maintenance Supervisor for planning labor and materials. Manages JD Edwards (E1) work order management system, material ordering, tracking, receipt, invoice reconciliation and subcontractor scheduling. Liaises with Production for Equipment maintenance downtime. The Planner will perform field inspections to ensure short-term and long-term planning meets business needs. They will ensure safety considerations are included in planned jobs and personally adhere to safety policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning
    • Plans maintenance activities.
    • Develops scope of work, budget, and duration for planned work.
    • Participates in material and equipment ordering.
  • Preventative maintenance review process
    • Review preventative maintenance activities to ensure effectiveness.
    • Coordinate work orders to align with maintenance and production priorities
    • Prioritize work orders by criticality.
  • Maintenance program improvements
    • Participates in maintenance program improvement initiatives.
    • Proposes improvement activities for assigned tasks.
  • Key Performance Indicators
    • Completes assigned activities to meet or exceed department key performance indicators.
    • Manages daily work order backlog.
    • Ensures 4-week look ahead planning is complete.
  • Safety Compliance
    • Ensure they personally comply with safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure safety policies and procedures are included in planned jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge - education, certificates, licenses, registration, and knowledge required

  • Trade certification or technologist certification is required (industrial electrician, industrial mechanic, heavy duty mechanic, and instrumentation technician). Preference given to candidates with multiple disciplines.
  • Strong proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, excel, and spreadsheets.
  • Proactively stays on top of industry and business trends that relate to my area of specialty.

Technical Skills - required skills to apply knowledge

  • Preference given to a candidate who have the following skills: Project Management Professional, Certified Planner, CADD, CNC, machinist, vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, acoustic emissions, electrical equipment testing, non-destructive testing, online equipment monitoring, power generation, and heating, ventilation, & air conditioning.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System. Proficiency with JD Edwards (E1) would be an advantage.
  • Preference given to a candidate who has maintenance planning and scheduling experience.
  • It is necessary that the candidate have well developed and demonstrated troubleshooting skills.

  • Maintenance planning experience in an industrial setting (electrical, mechanical, mobile, instrumentation, facilities, and reliability). Preference given to a candidate who has multiple skills from the list above.
  • Has an in-depth understanding of customer needs and uses it to consistently meet customer expectations.
  • Implements change initiatives.
  • Consistently provides relevant information and expertise that adds value to the work of others.
