JOB DESCRIPTION
J.D. Irving, Limited, NS Woodlands Division is currently seeking candidates for experienced/skilled Harvester Operator positions - there are multiple positions available. Operations will take place within Nova Scotia with the possibility of some work taking place in southeastern New Brunswick. Forest Machine Operators will be expected to operate the equipment in a safe, efficient and productive manner according to J.D. Irving, Limited's Best Management Practices. The Forest Machine Operator will be required to maintain productivity and utilization targets and work independently in remote environments. Performance of general daily maintenance and repairs is required. This is an English language work environment.
Terms of Employment: Full-time permanent positions; Full-time hours
Employment Location: 529 Valleydale Road, Valley Nova Scotia. B2N 5C5. Job sites where work will occur are located throughout Colchester County, Cumberland County, Digby County and Pictou County, with some possible travel to the Halifax Regional Municipality and possible travel to sites in Southeastern New Brunswick.
Conditions of Employment: Competitive Pay Rate: $28.85/hr Hourly
• Forest Machine Operators are eligible for very competitive productivity bonuses based on assessments during the course of employment
• Forest Machine Operators may be eligible for Company Benefits Plan if eligible and covered by provincial health insurance. Company Benefits Plan is subject to change but may include extended health and dental insurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate harvesting machine in an efficient, and productive manner according to J.D. Irving, Limited's Best Management Practices and provide equipment maintenance as required.
  • Maintain productivity, production, and utilization targets, and work independently in remote environments.
  • May be assigned to related/ancillary tasks for short periods of time including but not limited to: equipment maintenance, tidying work areas, training, harvest and boundary line layouts, road maintenance activities, forest fire prevention activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education Required: High School diploma at a minimum
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years of experience with the operation of heavy forest machinery or a combination of one year of work experience with forest machinery and practical, vocational training in the industry of forest machine operations
  • General heavy equipment mechanical skills or Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate will be considered an asset
