JOB DESCRIPTION
The Quality Engineer will drive the resolution of Non-Conformances by containing problems at the earliest opportunity, communicating with Key Stakeholders, facilitate mitigation plans and track resolution status. They provide leadership, coaching and training during investigations of major problems and/or special projects regarding supplier non conformances or corrective actions. Performing root cause analysis using standard quality tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Failure Mode Effects Analysis as well as organize and conducting GEMBA walks to proactively identify issues, productivity gains and mitigate quality issues. Create visualizations that highlight risks to communicate to the business current requirements while organizing the presentation of data to reflect results (e.g., trends and correlations) in a visually compelling way. The ability to interpret engineering drawings and a strong knowledge of various manufacturing processes (eg. Welding) is important to understand product deficiencies quickly. Numerically astute with strong problem-solving and data analysis skills, visual data management, and the ability to gather and interpret objective evidence. Evaluate new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and compliance to requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the resolution of Non-Conformances by containing problems at the earliest opportunity, communicating with Key Stakeholders, facilitate mitigation plans and track resolution status
  • Provide leadership, coaching and training during investigations of major problems and/or special projects regarding supplier non conformances or corrective actions
  • Organize the presentation of data to reflect results (e.g., trends and correlations) in a visually compelling way to address critical business questions
  • Organize and Conduct GEMBA walks to proactively identify issues, productivity gains and mitigate quality issues
  • Create and execute Continuous Improvement projects for the Supplier Quality Group

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
    • Certificate in ISO auditing considered an asset
    • P.Eng
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS 9100 or equivalent Quality Management Systems
  • Experience
    • 5+ years of related experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, oil and gas or ocean technology
    • Experience with QMS software is an asset
    • Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks
    • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
    • High attention to detail
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
